I'm Mason, I was born as completely deaf but I got an cochlear implants when I was 4. I learned English first then sign language as my second language. I'm good at helping people to learn sign language but just let you know that I learned English Sign Language but right now I'm ;earning ASL in college, ASL is my minor. ASL is so much easier for me cause ASL is almost similar to ESL but different grammar and also some different signs. I also want to become an ASL professor in future. I would make it very simple like the way I learned in past. I would tell the words first then finger spelling then show how to sign the words slowly.

Sign Language is one of my top subjects! Currently, I am working as a community and educational interpreter. I completed an interpreter training program several years ago and have been signing for over 12 years.

I am flexible. Sign language can only be learned through repetition and practice, so there will be a lot of voice-off communication exchanges. Depending on the learning style of the student, I have several resources that can be incorporated into my lessons. Also, I prefer to know the goal of students to focus on specific vocabulary, if necessary, in effort to refrain from learning "extra" signs if becoming fluent in American Sign Language is not their goal.

Hello, My name is Hazel Sherin and I am currently a Freshman at The New School. As a high school student I decided instead of taking a foreign language to take sign language as an alternative. Prior to taking ASL 1, I was completely unaware of Deaf Culture and The Deaf community. In learning some of the history and attending Deaf events, I rapidly fell in love with the language. Unfortunately, I only reached ASL 3, as I only started taking it as a Sophomore. Since then I have taken one ASL 2 course in college just as a review because that is all that is offered at my school. A Little Bit About Me...

Being a CODA, child of deaf adults, has allowed me to be fluent in mine and my parent's native language of American Sign Language. Through my 13 years of professional work in the sign language field, I have tutored and taught sign language and have mainly worked as a sign language interpreter for the Deaf and hearing community. Currently and for all of my professional years of interpreting, I have worked in the educational setting interpreting for mainstreamed Deaf and hard of hearing students at both high school and college level. There are many things that I have to offer a student interested in learning sign, the language itself and also the culture associated with American Sign.
It is best to learn sign language in person. Signs are done from the hands and facial expressions and is best learned in person.
