I have worked in the Education field for 9 years. I started off as a substitute teacher and later became a "permanent substitute" in 2002. In this same year, I also became a class monitor for Psycho-Edu with the Johnson Co. School System. These jobs both required me to help teach elementary students in every subject.
My goal as a teacher is to help children appreciate learning and have fun while doing. I beleive that we all learn in different ways and a person should use a learning strategy that works best for them. I am available to help your child succeed academically. I have had much experience working with children of all ages in the Education Field as a Primary Teacher for Head Start and CIS after school program. If students don't learn the way we teach, we must learn to teach the way they learn. I believe in Orton-Gillingham's philosophy of teaching everything using as many senses simultaneously as possible. A Little Bit About Me...

My goal is to teach high school English. I have several years experience working with youth in teaching roles, including tutoring both math and english. For 11 months in Ecuador I taught English, Health, Phys. Ed., and career skills to elementary school working children and literacy to their parents. Other experiences include 6 weeks teaching project management and career skills to high school girls in DC, 6 months teaching at a special ed. school, and 5 summers as a head counselor for kids with a variety of disabilities. A Little Bit About Me...

I have some student teaching experience from 1992, but I did not complete school then. I recently graduated two years in a row with an English and an Art degree, respectively. I feel my life experience will allow me to relate to the student, allowing for personalized analogies in order to more effectively communicate complex ideas and relationships, particularly within the grammar and mechanics of the English language.
