Very much based on working with what the student knows. I tend to start by having them explain to me what they are doing and what they think. I then provide some guidance and walk through a sample problem with them. I ask that they try another problem like it on their own and ask questions to prompt them as they work.
I started tutoring in high school for extra credit. I have primarily tutored in mathematics and general chemistry! I tutored a girl in Algebra 1 for a year, helped my best friend and her Mom with college mathematics, and worked through college algebra with my husband. Math is one of my top subjects!

In terms of online tutoring. I make use of a headset microphone and a touch tablet. As well as many free online applications, such as a whiteboard, Skype, and educational resources. During session I prefer to use the course work and text assigned to the student. Doing so allows for the structure of our sessions to easily mesh with those of the course.

With my undergraduate degree in hand I taught Marketing and Sales at Whiteside Area Vocational Center in Sterling, IL, for eight years. I left teaching to enter the corporate world working for several companies, i.e., National Manufacturing Company in Sterling, Amerock Corporation in Rockford, and Greenlee-Textron in Rockford. I moved from a product manager to national account manager.
