My comments on tutoring Algebra : I was an excellerated student throughout all of my mathematics career, with a 3.5 GPA sustained in all of my math classes.

I prefer hands on teaching, but I like to remain flexible to the individuals learning style. Depending on the topics covered, we read, write, and do hands-on activities to keep the brain stimulated. Sometimes if applicable, and with parental consent, we would do art projects and maybe watch an educational film (that the parent has approved of course). For sciences and social studies I really like the idea of field trips, but everything will be permitted by the parental figures first. These field trips usually include going to parks and observing natural habitats, or even visiting the local museums. We can usually negotiate a small group trip which makes the costs slim to none to have these extra curricular activities.

I have been fortunate to teach students at both ends of the learning spectrum. Four years ago, I decided to teach the remedial algebra courses at our high school. In doing so, I have built my repertoire of strategies to teach algebra concepts. I feel that my passion for the study of geometry combined with 21 years of teaching high school geometry, have made me a successful geometry teacher. I had no intention of teaching when I started my career in Psychology and the Analytical Chemistry industry. I continuously tried to improve my methadology to arrive at the right mix of stimulation and information to make the learning process as interesting as possible. Teaching the Physics of Xrays and chemical analysis does challenge one to keep assessing the learned content and modify as results indicate.
