young tutor that works well with children

I have 5 nephews and a daughter of my own shop I'm great with children. I was an honors grad and I also became a certified nursing assistant before I even graduated high school. I'm great in public speaking and have had many speeches myself with an audience of over one hundred. I do know the main signs as well as the alphabet for sign language because I have a brother and sister whom are deaf. Also I have always been great in mathematics. I keep an open mind to the various ways a student may learn because everyone is different.

A Little Bit About Me...

Upon graduating from Columbia International University in 1980, I took a position at The King's Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida as the department head for the math tutoring department for elementary students. I stayed in that position for three years until I started a family. When my children became school age, I took a position at Dekalb Christian Academy in Atlanta, Georgia heading up the tutoring department and worked with elementary and high school students in various subjects. Upon leaving that positon in 1992, I became certified with the National Institute for the Learning Disabled. This certificate qualified me as an Educational Therapist. Educational Therapy is designed to work for children and adults of all ages.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology at Colgate University. Later, I attended Penn State University where I studied elementary education and earned my teacher’s certification after taking classes, interning, and student teaching. I taught for six years: four years in first grade and two years in third grade. While teaching full-time, I also tutored for the school system after-school, on Saturdays, and during the summer. Those tutoring experiences involved students from grades 1, 3, 4, and 5. I also have done private tutoring for high schools students and adults, focusing on math, language, and test preparation.
