A Little Bit About Me...

I am easy going, energetic, very passionate (especially when teaching calculus and physics), and engaging. In most cases it takes only a few sessions and students are having fun. I believe that most students can understand mathematics with a proper explanation. For example, the order of operations is usually presented to students without explanation for its existence. This gives the false sense that it is an arbitrary rule. I enjoy sharing my understanding to students, but I also enjoy providing a role model for my students. If I show compassion to a students it is almost always reciprocated. Academic excellence is a virtue but so is being a kind and caring person. I like to spread this through my teaching style.
I graduated from the UConn with a B.S. in physics and a minor in mathematics. Because I have used calculus and linear algebra on a daily basis as a means of solvin ... read more

I am about to be a graduate with a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. I have one year of tutoring experience from the Tutor Doctor franchise and have numerous success stories with high school level students. I have also tutored adult level students going into pre-nursing examinations. My engineering degree gives me the versatility to tutor math, physics, or chemistry either the high school level or college/adult levels.
Based on a 1-on-1 model I base my teaching on each individual student. I am easy going but do not let students slide by without knowing exactly what they are doing. Each session is utilized to the fullest. I strive for continuous improvement in my students which will hopefully translate into lifelong learning that occurs after I am done

My teaching style is very simple and I believe it is effective. I have found that going through problems does not always help kids learn. I always try to tutor the basics and establish a plan for problem solving. The children need to know how to attach a problem not how to plug numbers into equations.
While attending the University of Massachusetts at Lowell I work to help other students that were having difficulty understanding the material presented. I obtained a bachelor of science in Civil Engineering, with a concentration in Structural Analysis. The course work gave me a very strong understanding of Mathematics, and Physics. Also, the quantity of lab reports I have written has given me an advantage in writing non-technical reports along with technical reports. I have worked as a college math privately and through other companies.

I am a highly dedicated tutor who enjoys working directly with students and seeing them succeed. I am a firm believer that many students benefit from an individualized tutor because he or she provides an active and collaborative learning relationship. For many students, this type of relationship and level of interaction makes the learning experience much more meaningful. I strive to help students learn by keeping them engaged in our sessions and challenging them to think critically about the subject matter, rather than by simply providing answers. I believe self-determination is an important skill for any student, and encourage them to lead tutoring sessions while voicing their ideas, concerns and levels of understanding as needed. When necessary, I try to help students learn more about their own learning style, and emphasize strategies for reading, studying, problem solving, and or ... read more

My experiences have taught me that a cookie-cutter teaching style is not suitable for every individual. My responsibility is to quickly identify the students weaknesses and turn them into their STRENGTH! I am a every interactive teacher. A Little Bit About Me...

Throughout high school and college I showed proficiency for mathematics as well as an ability to help teach those around me. After college I became a pension analyst and have studied for several actuarial exams. In my current position one of my responsibilities is to educate new hires or colleges on systems and processes. Often times due to the nature of our work this requires a refresher math course to the trainee. The math involved ranges from basic elementary math to advanced calculus and actuarial principles. Teaching others math has always given me a great sense of satisfaction, and at this point in my career I have been contemplating going back to school to receive my teacher's certification.

I got my bachelor's degree with concentration on statistics in Beijing Normal University, which is the best teacher training university in China, and received all rounded training to make a teacher. In summer of 2007, I joined a summer camp team and volunteer to tutor math in a far away high school. Currently i am working as teaching assistant in University of Connecticut. The evaluation from my college students is good enough.
There is no uniquely perfect method for different students. I intend to think as a student and set different goals and solutions for different students. Additionally, I prefer more comprehension, through which the student can only get good comprehension of knowledge.I am a nice tutor, and always ends up good friends with my student. Actually I am still corresponding with my previous students and offering help to them now.

A Little Bit About Me...

I truly enjoy teaching. I am very easy going and I can make subjects easy to learn. Since I have an engineering background, I have the tendency to break complex problems into smaller parts. This makes it easier for the student to follow through. All my students in the past have enjoyed learning from me and I am certain that this will not change. I truly believe that anybody can learn math and science; it is a matter of time and perception. In other words, at what angle can the student learn the subject at hand and how quickly can the instructor find the student's vantage point.
While pursuing my Engineering degree at Roger Williams University, I noticed that there were not too many students from low income families attending college. That is why I joined Bridge to Success Program on January 2001. BTS was a program, sponsored by Roger Williams University at the time, which focused i ... read more

Since my parents were both teachers,to be a math teacher is my dream all the time. Although I have earned one bachelor degree in accounting, I still hope I can be an excellent teacher someday. I am patient, easy going, and considerate. Just give me three months, I am available to help your child find academic success.
When I was a high school kid, I finished the highest math class during grade 11. Since I was so good at mathematics, my teachers suggested me to tutor my classmates in math and science. Later, my study in the University of Connecticut has enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of math and science, especially mathematics. During my college life I have also tutored students in mathematics, and physi ... read more

I am seeking a degree in Finance and Actuarial Sciences from the University of Connecticut. I achived a high level of proficiency in math from a very young age and finish Advanced Calc 3 and a half years ago. I have tutored a student for his entire second year of high school in all subjects with noticable GPA improvements.
I developed a patient style of simply allowing a student to set his own pace yet make sure he lives up to his own promises. Making lasting commetments allowes the student to take controle of his own improvement, yet allows me to see what he need direction in. In showing the student alternative practices, he will see the benifit in changing his ways for the better.

Each student has personal methods of learning that work best for them, and certain ways of doing things that do not work for them. I like to try and explain a concept to the student in different ways until that particular student feels at ease with the theory and idea behind the subject. Once the basic idea is well understood the reinforcement of the principle by means of problem solving can show the utility of the idea and how it may be used in real life.
As an engineer and attorney, I have tutored while a student in college and while mentoring technician candidates as they returned to school to obtain associate degrees in technical subjects. I also undertook to write a sylabus and class concept for two new classes on technical subjects that I had approved and taught at Massachusetts Bay Community College. In college I tutored students in Math, Chemistry, Physics and Engineer ... read more
