My comments on tutoring Sociology : undergraduate coursework for Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Elementary Education, coursework for Master of Education in School Administration, and doctoral coursework for PhD in Teaching Learning and Culture.

Hands on, inquiry, project-based, socratic method, with basic instructional practices tailored to student needs.
I live in Huntington Beach and I am currently completing my doctoral studies at the University of Texas at El Paso, in the area of Teaching, Learning, and Culture with an emphasis in Biliteracy and Social Justice issues, in the dissertation-writing phase. I hold Texas Standard Educator Certifications (Social Studies Composite, Life-Earth Science, Principal) and I am currently working on obtaining California teaching credentials. I am eager to be involved in education research, development, and service to improve the learning and success of all students.

I am a senior undergraduate student enrolled at Georgia Tech. My major is nuclear and radiological engineering, but i have experience in the fields of mechanical and civil engineering. I am most experienced in the subjects of mathematics, radiation physics, and electromagnetics including: algebra (I and II), trigonometry, differential equations, calculus 1 and 3, reactor physics, radiation protection/particle physics, thermodynamics, classical mechanics. I also have basic college level experience in the fields of chemistry and biology.
I encourage students to question problem solving methods in order to understand the fundamentals. After an explanation of the material I often follow up with several example problems to help students test their mastery of the subject. I do not emphasize memorizing equations, because students do not learn about the physical phenomena by memorization. ... read more

EARN WHAT YOU LEARN

My teaching style is one of both instruction and discussion. My goal is to create an environment where a student is not afraid to ask questions, because Believe it is in asking question where the true understanding of knowledge can be found.

Because I have written so many diverse, successful pieces of communications in business, marketing, and entertainment environments, I am able to isolate a very specific set of questions writers must ask to determine the viability of the selected audience’s response. Also, I have developed targeted questions about the work to determine the likelihood of acceptance for any communication. My writing assignments are clear, yet wide open to every writer’s individual response—the very heart of the course. My strength as a teacher resides in my ability to point out how each of these questions and their answers works to satisfy the stated goal of the communication. I teach there is no single right way to utilize the complexities of the language, but there is a perfectly reasonable way to determine success. There is an art to the mix of subjectivity and objectivity. My personal power lies in ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I have been working with special needs students for the past 6 years. I have a passion for teaching all children, but especially those who have a different way of learning. I have a unique ability to diagnose a student's strengths and weaknesses and to develop a plan of actions to use their strengths to help them build in the areas where they need further assistance. I believe that all students can learn if given the appropriate tools and encouragement from their teacher. I also believe that teachers need to set high expectations for all students and that it is vitally important that students develop a self-awareness and self-motivation to learn.
I have been working as a paraprofessional in a special education classroom for the past 6 years. I have now obtained my Education Specialist Credential. I am certified to teach students with mild/moderate disabilities. In addition, ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I received my BS degree in Communications in 1974 and passed my CBEST test in December, 2008. I have been tutoring for over 6 months assisting a student rewriting her term paper. I have also tutored my grandson and younger daughter in high school and college math. I decided to enter tutoring and teaching after realizing how important education is while using my communications ability.
I have always enjoyed working with children and helping to direct paths thru life. I get along with children very well and am very patient. Children like adults have their strong subjects and weak ones and my style is try to find the strong points of children. It is important at what point a student lost their way, go back and help them get past that point. I want to make a difference in this small amount of time I have on earth.

A Little Bit About Me...

I'm very passionate to help kids to be successful in school as well as in life. I've had 6 years of working as Student Aides in all levels of K-12; Math, English, Writing, and Arts, 5 years working as Teacher for Career Colleges: Websters, Phillip Jr., and University of Phoenix; Math, Computer Software Applications, Writing, Professional development, Accounting,Statistic, Student coaching, and Piano.
I'm a big believer of motivation and encouragement. Once the kids are motivated when they feel the bonding, learning success will be achieved in a faster speed. I'd like to talk to the children every day to find out how their days went and their concerns and challenges especially if they feel they're capable of handling of the situation and their ways of doing such.
