My comments on tutoring Algebra II : Expert - have done PhD level work in mathematics

My teaching style is based loosely on that of my major college math professer (and head of the department), which was originated at the University of Texas by his thesis advisor and another colleague. It is basically the Socratic method as applied to teaching mathematics, to try to draw the student out and get him or her to think on their own. I am for understanding, not regurgitating a bunch of facts, which anyone can mindlessly do. The object is to be able to think and analyze on your own.

I am ready to teach you and help you become successful!

I like to teach at the student's preferred pace. If I feel that they are not comprehending, I will break down the concept and explain in greater detail. Then I will ask them to explain the concept. If I feel that they understand I will work on example problems with them till they can solve problems on their own.
I have taught math concepts to my younger sister and taught Pre-Calculus to Architecture and other students at the University of Houston. I received A's in College Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus I, II, III, Physics I, II, Chemistry I, II, Geology, AutoCAD, and Engineering Mathematics. I have helped many students earn higher grades and gain a better understanding.

In the year of 2008, I decide to begin my adventure in education. I accepted a position as a math teacher at Red River Academy. a boarding school for teens with behavior issues and drug addictions. Experienced Successful Math Tutor

I use a Socratic method whereby the student is encouraged to think about the math problem and generate suggestions about how to characterize it. Once the student's mind has been stretched a bit, I begin adding hints that direct the student's thought process in the direction of the solution.
