A Little Bit About Me...

Students of all ages are welcomed in my world...from beginners to the senior citizen who wants to learn more. I strive to make the learning fun and exciting by finding what works for the student as an individual. They are not all alike and because of this, I find that "cookie cutter" style teaching doesn't work. If something doesn't work one way, I try to find another way to achieve the same goal. Rather than my playing a new piece for the student, I ask that the student TRY it themselves first....breaking it down into small pieces so that it doesn't overwhelm them at first run through. Dedicated, patient, caring and knowledgeable are all the characteristcs that I would want in a tutor. Those are definitely characteristics that describe me. I have worked with children for the past 12 years in settings from private, public and special needs population. I enjoy working with children and teaching. I believe in providing a positive and comfortable setting for children to learn and in that setting students can reach their full potential.
Over the last 12 years I have taught children in most settings. I also have experience tutoring adults in math. My current job is working with children who have cognitive disabilities and supporting their families. I graduated from Prince George's Community college with an Associate's degree and from Bowie State University with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I am currently enrolled in a Master's program for counseling.
