I studied many different theories of learning while in psychology and fundamentally understand what it means to be a teacher. My teaching style allows the student to learn the material as independently as possible and improve their critical thinking skills, by asking the right type of questions and finding the student's best learning style. A Little Bit About Me...

I consider myself a facilitator, not an authoritarian. I ascribe to the principles set forth by Malcolm Knowels and Benjamin Bloom. I rely on the strength and motivation of the student. I hesitate to call myself "teacher." I think I serve better as a guide which, hopefully, leads his client not just to a more enlightend place, but also to the place the client wants to be, or had in mind in the first place.
I started teaching Music in 1984. I taught part-time, temporary while pursuing education goals and working as a professional musician. In 1998 I became an adult educator, and in the following nine years I taught GED, Workforce, Computer and ESL. I learned to speak Spanish from some of my ESL students. A native of Little Rock, I have always been drawn to the film and writing department at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. After completing my Associate's degree at Pulaski Technical College, I was anxious to begin my BA in Rhetoric and Writing at the university. Within one semester, I found a thriving writing community in the University Writing Center where I began tutoring, and eventually I became a graduate assistant for a total of about 5 years.
