As a high school student, I tutored ESL students. I went on to college to earn a BA degree in Elementary Education. I had 3 practicum experiences among grades 3-5, and completed student teaching in grade 4. Within the 4th grade classroom I taught math, reading, spelling, social studies, writing, and science. While student teaching, I also spent extra time outside of the classroom tutoring students who were in need of more assistance in various subject areas including math, reading, and writing. My main goal is not to tell a student they are wrong, but to tell them how they can make the answer correct. Being that my mother is a teacher, I have picked up many of her techniques while tutoring in the peer tutoring program at my college.
