During my time at Hocking Technical College, I was taking alot of biology related classes such as Botany, Ohio Trees, Aquatic Ecology and many other related classes. I was a tutor for 1 year, teaching students about learining there trees by showing them out in the field and also teaching them latin names for these specific trees. In addition, I tutored students in Aquatic Ecology and used mnemonic devices to aid in memorization of these concepts. I have loved teaching and still keep in touch with many of my former students. In fact, I have taught many of their children! I seem to end up helping students with more than just their homework. I have always had a talent for understanding that not everyone "gets it the first time." I had much trouble with science myself. When I was responsible for hiring teachers, I usually wasn't a fan of those with 4.0 averages. I was afraid they wouldn't have the patience to answer the same question 10 times! A Little Bit About Me...

While I draw much of my knowledge from my university education in physics and mathematics, the majority of my teaching experience is drawn from the world of corporate retail management. I have trained employees of all ages and backgrounds in both store operations and product facts. I possess good communication skills, both spoken and written, that have been sharpened through collaborative work in physics and individual work in sales.
Every person has a unique background and set of experiences that he or she brings to the learning experience. It is difficult, at best, for the student to correctly assess how his or her experiences affect the learning process. Thus, the burden is on me, the instructor, to determine how a student learns, and adjust my teaching methods to meet the student's needs.

In May of 2009, I graduate from Kent State University with a BA in English and The Writing Minor certification. As a college student, I took many courses highlighting grammar structure and the writing styles of APA and MLA. As a student, I held part time jobs as a nanny for three children and a high school athletic coach for Gilmour Academy.
