I have had a well rounded career as a business professional and musician. As an information technology professional, I have worked with more software and tools than this space would allow me to catalog. As a senior manager and Chief Information Officer, I have worked to gain an understanding of the businesses processes and implemented beneficial solutions. I love to mentor\tutor and enjoy watching my students grow. I have been a musician for most of my life and have been a part of several professional CD projects. I have a laid back style that promotes lifelong learning in the student (not just keystrokes) and provide a frame of reference for them to always have to refer to when needed.

I taught and tutored ESL two years before entering law school. I hae taught college classes as an adjunct and later FT professor at Penn College for 25 years. I currently serve as Career Outreach Coordinator for HACC-Lebanon Campus. I have tutored many students, particularly in areas such as writing essays. I also served as a reader for the SAT Writing section, so I am familiar with what they are seeking. I am very proficient in grammar and structure.
My teaching style with students of all ages is to facilitate their learning as opposed to simply feeding them what I feel is the best response. Students learning is maximized when they can take ownership of and pride in their work. I am very patient. Recognizing that all students learn differently, I seek to ascertain their learning styles and then adjust my tutoring style to that learning style.

A Little Bit About Me...

I began working as a Water Safety Instructor when I was 16 and taught swimming to people age 3 to age 76. I worked as a Teacher's Assistant at West Virginia university and taught my own section of a one credit course required of all freshmen students while working on a BA in English with a concentration in Creative Writing. While working on my MA in English Literature with a Certificate in Folklore at George Mason university, I worked as a substitute teacher and then was hired as a full time middle school English teacher.
