As a Walden University and La Roche College graduate, I was motivated to achieve a high level of excellence in health sciences. I have earned a BS and a master’s degree in Public Health, which enabled me to gain an understanding in the areas of health and sciences. In addition, I have a nursing degree from Africa (French speaking) as well as over 100 credits hours in nursing from Carlow University. Because of my experience in teaching my own children, I have discovered that no child is too young to learn. Often people will not consider an infant or toddler a "functioning human being" until the child can speak. This is so inaccurate! I taught one of my daughters to read at age four. My teaching style is to engage the student on a personal level through cheerful conversation and sharing of interests, then to assess learning styles, strengths, and challenges. Children perform well when expectations are complimentary to them, and when they are given the tools and nurture to accomplish their dreams.

First, in order for the students to best understand the material, I break it down to their level. For subjects like math, it is simple to develop a step by step method for the students to write down and follow. Once the students have mastered the steps they are motivated to continue with the material because it seems straightforward. It is also important to have the students connect to the material; if they understand how the information is used in every day life then they will become more excited and motivated to learn.
