I prefer to incorporate student participation as much as possible instead of giving lecture-style instruction to learn their unique learning styles and to understand more about my students. With this understanding, I will be able to understand how I can better instruct them and test them on the material being taught.

I began my study of American Sign Language (ASL) at the tender age of 12, then studied Latin in high school with Mrs. Ellen Conrad. When I reached college, I continued my study of ASL while tutoring friends in Latin. I have studied Arabic and Irish Gaelic at the college level, and dabbled in Spanish, Hawaiian Creole, and various African languages. In addition to learning, I love to teach. I was the salutatorian of my high school class. I excelled in every subject, and was a member of the tutoring club. I also tutored my cousin, who has Down Syndrome, helping him with his summer school work, including literature, handwriting, math, and Spanish. I majored in Art at the Pennsylvania State University. I also took many different courses in Art and Art History, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and photography.
My teaching style is very versatile. I think the best way to teach is to first assess the areas that need the most work, and then devise a simple, logical approach to help the student understand the material. Some students learn visually, others learn by repetition. It takes a lot of adaptation to make sure the student really grasps the ideas.
