My comments on tutoring Accounting : I am an accounting major at Ball State University. Accounting just seems to make sense to me and I have no doubt that I can help it click for you as well. Any person taking introductory Accounting will improve greatly with my help.

I am in my third year at Ball State University. I recently changed my major from Biology to Accounting; therefore, I have lots of knowledge in many different areas - some that aren't listed on my profile. I am experienced in categories ranging from Biology to Accounting to baking. I won several Grand Champion awards in Indiana's Madison County 4-H program for Baking and Woodworking while I have A's in Chemistry, Accounting, Biology, Spanish, Calculus, and many many other subjects from Ball State University. If you have a question, chances are that I have an answer!
I like to teach as if I am one friend talking to another. I find that this is the most relaxed way to encourage learning. As an undergraduate, I attended Purdue University and worked as a teaching assistant where I ran my own lab, instructing students for one of their core management courses. In my junior year, I was asked to apply to an invitation-only program for an an accelerated MBA program only for exceptional students. I am now entering my final year of this program and will graduate in 2011 with a BS in Business Management and a Masters degree in Business Administration. The graduate program is team focused and emphasizes working with and teaching diverse groups of people.
I am a strong believer in teaching through examples and letting students try to apply the knowledge I have taught them at various smaller stages, then apply it to the bigger picture. I love working with kids, and I think that with patience, understanding, and time, all students are capable of reaching their potential.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is very casual. I enjoy building a strong relationship with the people I teach to allow them to be comfortable and not feel uneasy to ask questions if they do not understand something. I have been teaching children for almost ten years through volunteering. I am enjoy children and their ability to learn and grasp new concepts at such a quick pace.
I have been working in commercial banking for the past two years. Through my every day work experience I deal with a lot of accounting and financial statement analysis and spreading. I also further my education in accounting by taking classes offered at Anderson University.

A Little Bit About Me...

Taught college courses on a part-time basis from 1976 to 2006. These various courses included accounting, business math, real estate, budgeting, strategic planning, starting a business, public speaking, investments, government accounting, principles of supervision, human resource development, auditing, and taxation. While teaching I eventually retired from the US Air Force, and from US Civil Service. As a retiree I find that I plenty of time to devote to outside activities and wish to assist others in as many ways as possible.
I prefer to interact with students rather than simply lecture. I try to reduce problems or topics into basic components and address each in turn in an effort to demonstrate critical steps in a process which would complete the task or solve the problem successfully. My teaching style is to cover required material in an understandable-informal manner. I expect students to ask questions until they are comfortable with the material. I also expect students to be attentive and well behaved in the classroom setting, leaving time for informal discussion when students and the teacher may come to know one another. Day-to-day application of school textbook information means more to students than just memorization for tests. Results are important when ascertained with integrity, knowledge and problem solving.
