A Little Bit About Me...

I have extensive experience in all areas of corporate accounting and financial and cost analysis as a management consultant and line manager. While earning my masters, I began teaching as an avocation, and found that I thoroughly enjoyed the didactic experience. Subsequently, I taught at the community, technical, and junior college levels, as well as the university level. I can really relate to the challenged student, as I was a late bloomer. I am effective in bringing my "real world" experience to the classroom and to the individual student.
I search for the light bulb that hasn't yet gone off in my students. Rote memorization by my students just to get a grade doesn't satisfy me, although that happens with some. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is compatable with the child's learning style. If they need visual instruction then it is visual. My style is mostly facilitator or demonstrator when tutoring. this is because the child needs you to show them the process more so that demonstrate what they know. Most children know some, just not enough to comprehend the entire process. when this happens, then I become a facilitator.
After receiving my Ed.D in Curriculum and Leadership, I decided to stay in the classroom. I currently instruct 4th and 5th grade students in Social Studies, Science and Math. I have taught Math to elementary students for the past 10 years. I believe that every student can learn, however each student is unique in that they learn differently. Teaching others cannot be defined by one style of teaching. The way to teach is by learning first how the student receives the information. Auditory learners and Visual learners require two different methods of teaching. The key is to make the information understandable to the student by breaking the information down in any format.
