A Little Bit About Me...

I have grown up in an education oriented household with both parents as teachers (Dad Chemistry and Mom English). Since earing my degree in CIS I have had 10 years of industry experience as well as having worked as a substitute teacher in both the Galesburg (CUSD #205, 200-2001) and Peoria (District 150,2007-Present) School Districts.
I believe everyone has their own aptitude for learning and will endeavor to discover each childs unique style for learning to help them strive to do their best in each endeavor they apply themselves to. My goal is to provide the best education possible and work with their own unique personalities on how to get them there. My parents and educators were a big factor in my life growing up and I hope to pass along some of that insight, knowledge and passion for learning that they taught me.

I love teaching. I us a guiding method of teaching. Because I believe that students learn the most when they do the work themselves, but sometimes they need someone there to motivate them or to guide them in the right direction. I feel this works in group studies also, but, the difference being is that all the student will be involved in a group discussion.

As an experienced K-12 substitute teacher, my work extended from the inner city to the county schools. I had the opportunity to instruct students with various ability levels and learning styles. During my graduate program at SIU, I become a teaching assistant and fell in love with teaching. I taught undergraduate laboratory in microbiology and bacteriology to undergraduate students. I have earned a bachelor's in Biology from Augustana and am finishing writing my thesis to obtain my Master's in Biological Sciences from SIU.
