Because students learn in different ways, a teacher must understand, appreciate, and adapt various teaching styles. My teaching style is to have a set of problems made up for the students to observe as examples to help understand certain chapters. I will assign additional problems if needed and focus on the subject matter that is the hardest for the individual to understand. I have taken statistics and gotten an A in the course and still have all course materials to give a general overview of statistics and how to use SPSS. I am knowledgeable on the software and would be able to answer questions on statistics because of how well I did and how I used to help others who struggled with the class.

Since obtaining my Master’s degree I have had the opportunity to work in coaching and reading specialist positions. This entailed working with both experienced and beginning teachers and students. Through cognitive coaching I formed relationships with these teachers, which allowed me to share my knowledge of best teaching practices in the reading content. As a mentor for the district however, my duties were similar to my coaching position, but I was accountable for supporting my mentees with research-based strategies that were applicable to all content areas. My teaching philosophy centers first, and foremost, on the task at hand: educating every student I service.
