As a tutor, I find that it is important to present the material to the students in a way that they can relate to. My job as an educator is to teach them how to learn it and make them want to learn it. I personally do not believe that negative reinforcement is beneficial. Positive responses to students are extremely valuable, even if they may occasionally give the wrong answer. This will give them the motivation to do well. My philosophy is that teaching is part knowledge, part communication, and part intuition. My intuition is necessary to understand where a student is getting stuck. I've been an informal tutor for as long as I can remember. I've tutored my peers and my juniors in English grammar, spelling, vocabulary, writing, composition, essay, formal reports, reading comprehension, and anything else involved in English. I also have formally studied Japanese and tutored in that. Formally, I have worked as an ESL teacher for The Salvation Army. I've been both a classroom teacher and a one-on-one teacher with my students.

As the daughter of educators, I have been exposed to the education system all my life. As a result of this exposure, I became very interested in tutoring and teaching. I taught for two years as a substitute teacher before attending law school. I previously worked as a substitute teacher with Morrow Elementary in North Lauderdale, Florida where I taught test-taking strategies for the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test. Most recently, I have volunteered with Youth Encouragement services as a tutor.
Based on previous experience I have discovered that the same teaching style does not work for every child.
