I believe that every child has the unalienable right to experience some success each and every day of their lives. My approach is hands-on, student centered and nurturing. I believe in learning by discovery and the use of manipulatives in a manner whereby the student learns without even knowing it. The discovery approach is best to grasping knowledge but to process any and all information is tantamount. Knowing what to do with the information is far more important than just possessing it. As a recent graduate from Westminster College, I have earned a BA in History and my PA teaching certificate for 7-12 in Social Studies. I have had experience in teaching grades 9-12 and tutoring students in grade 10 in subjects other than social studies such as science, math, and spanish. I have also volunteered to teach in my church's relgious education program to 5th grade students and plan on teaching 4th grade next year.
I believe that all children learn differently and at different levels and as a teacher, you need to recongize that and adapt your lessons to your students so they can achieve. A Little Bit About Me...

As a result of my post-high school studies in mathematics and business, I feel I'm suited to tutor people in those subjects. Statistics, quantitative methods, and analytical methods are my strongest subjects. Additionally, I have college graduate level skills in English/grammar, science, and social studies. Although theses were not part of my major, I do have above high school skills to share with those who need help in those subjects. I prefer to work one on one with a single student, I do my very best to make my student feel comfortable and ready to learn. I learn what the student likes; music, sports, movies, I use these things to relate to the student and then i'm able to relate the learning material to the students favorite things which I think helps them to be more receptive.
I began tutoring while in high school, as a junior and senior I would spend 2-3 afternoons a week at the Middle School helping the learning support classes write book reports.
