Engaging and educating the mind

I have worked with children between the ages of 4-10 tutoring in areas like math and spanish. Also, I have helped adults better understand logic course material more fluently at my school NC A&T State University. Held a refresher course for elementary children during summer camps i've worked at for their english. I also like to work with the client and figure out new ways to help them better understand. This has been done through games,relevant age appropriate references, and other means.
I like to give the children more hands on material, to try and reach them at their respective level. For adults, I do help them, but try and guide them to figure it out on their own. I have found in my experience that it is better retained when the client thinks through it them selves.

I am a disciplinarian. I have an excellent ability to gain a students attention, keep it and the results of my students have been well above average. I have a knack to bring into the classroom, outside events (latest ball games, Olympics, etc.) to establish a 'bond' between myself and the student. This allows me to gain their confidence as well as not create a bored atmosphere. I find this very important, especially with the more difficult students.
As seen from above, I have valid tutoring experience in both middle grades and HS. I was in the student teaching program at Wake Forest and upon graduation, I was a substitute teacher in the Winston-Salem, Forsyth County School system. As a college graduate, I was very much driven to achieve a high level of education. I studied different types of literature from women's, middle eastern, and african american as well. I also have four years of speaking spanish and learning the offical lanuage in college and very good at conversational spanish as well. I have spent two years tutoring children in english grammar, basic algebra, and sentence structure, as well as spanish.
I love to teach young children. I also love to teach growing adults as well and think its best for a relaxing teaching style. I use games and rhymes to help the children stay focus and have fun while tutoring.
