I hold a BS in Chemistry from Utah State University and have completed the requirements for a MS in Chemistry from the University of Oregon. I have a great physics and math background and have completed courses in quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics, thermodynamics, wave phenomena, etc. During the 2006-07 school year I helped teach third and fourth year undergraduates in the physical chemistry laboratory at the universityn. My teaching style is probably best suited to high school and college students. Although I successfully helped my own 3 children through their elementary school, high school and college years, my tutoring experience has been with older students. My wife is a Montessori trained teacher so I have absorbed that method for tutoring. Each student must be viewed as an individual to define the areas of weakness and fill them in. It is only when the student understands the basics of a subject that they can build a future in it.

A Little Bit About Me...

As part of my undergraduate degree I taught English to adults. I taught English in Korea for one year before enrolling in my Masters of Education program. During the program I had two student teacher placements. My first placement was in a middle school mathematics class and my second placement was in a self-contained 5th grade classroom.
I teach in a collaboratively with students. I believe that treating students more as equals and less and repositories for teacher originated information, is more conducive to learning. I present students with the information and let them build their own understanding.
