I am not young enough to know everything

I agree with the concept that each person learns a bit differently, and even more so that as a tutor, I should try and find the most effective style for my tutee. My academic career also taught me the importance of setting time limits for each action item; and switching tasks to keep the mind sharp.
You will see from my resume below that I have strong experience in math, science, engineering and computers. It is worth mentioning that I am also skilled in english (5 on my AP World Lit exam) and art (voted most artistic in my senior high school class). Mathematically, I teach from a logical, or procedural approach. As students work their way up to Calculus and further, it is important to understand the process of problem-solving and not focus on the numbers alone. Many sciences can become abstract, I like to relate topics to things students may encounter everyday or already understand in order to get a foundation before complicating topics with smaller detail. Along to way to obtaining my various degrees, my sentiment changed from achieving an accounting degree to achieving more knowledge in multiple areas. I pursued this avenue in order to expand my horizons as well as my marketability upon graduation. Instead of becoming a graduate with a degree in accounting, I became a multiple graduate with knowledge in many different areas, including accounting and financial management. A Little Bit About Me...

I have multiple degrees in computer and electrical engineering from Purdue University. I also have a partial degree in Accelerated Associates in Culinary Arts from Kendall College and a few classes in Computer Science in the Masters program in Computer Science and the University of Illinois Chicago. I have experience in manufacturing engineering, Research and Development, Sales, Management in Computers and several years as a Chef.
My early teaching and learning style was to do as many problems that were thrown at me in class or the text.
