I am not young enough to know everything

I agree with the concept that each person learns a bit differently, and even more so that as a tutor, I should try and find the most effective style for my tutee. My academic career also taught me the importance of setting time limits for each action item; and switching tasks to keep the mind sharp.
You will see from my resume below that I have strong experience in math, science, engineering and computers. It is worth mentioning that I am also skilled in english (5 on my AP World Lit exam) and art (voted most artistic in my senior high school class). I have also tutored at least 4 students in the past, and found it to be a successful and rewarding experience. Katharine P. These have a advanced my understanding of physics, mathematics, and other sciences. In addition to lecture, I have completed several laboratory classes and attended seminars that bring formulas and concepts into a real world purpose. During my time in Missouri, I joined the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). NSBE held weekly tutoring sessions for afterschool programs with kids in grades 5-12.
Mathematically, I teach from a logical, or procedural approach. As students work their way up to Calculus and further, it is important to understand the process of problem-solving and not focus on the numbers alone. Many sciences can become abstract, I like to relate topics to things students may encounter everyday or already understand in order ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My early teaching and learning style was to do as many problems that were thrown at me in class or the text. I learned quickly that you need to understand the problem in order to solve problems that aren't set up for you. I enjoy teaching and have a lot of patience with my students becuase I believe they all have the potential to meet and exceed their expectations with the proper tutuledge.
I have multiple degrees in computer and electrical engineering from Purdue University. I also have a partial degree in Accelerated Associates in Culinary Arts from Kendall College and a few classes in Computer Science in the Masters program in Computer Science and the University of Illinois Chicago. I have experience in manufacturing engineering, Research and Development, Sales, Management in Computers and several years as a Chef.
