joined the army in 2002. served for over 9 years. Scored a 72 on my ASVAB,and 0ver 110 in all fields of the GT score. So i know a bit about everything that is asked of in the ASVAB test. Especially in the automotive and math sections. Worked in a variety of environments, where i learned housekeeping,cooking,and automotive skills.
I can teach in a variety of ways. mainly by using ways to relate to the students understandings. I dont like the costant drilling techniques many people use. Some people learn more by constantly studying, while others study just enough to get an understanding. thats me.

i have a BS degree in Biology and enough credits to have a minor in Chemistry. I am in the process of taking the tests to get a provisional certificate in teaching. I have tutored fellow students while in school. Recently i have tutored elementary school students in math.
I try to instill in the students that they can do the work. Students can do the work, the only thing needed is to get them to acknowledge that they can do it. Usually all they need is to have the process re-explained to them and if needed, have the process explained in a different method.

I believe in completing an individual needs assessment and designing a study approach around that assessment. I believe in constant reinforcement and reassessment. I also believe it is useful to utilize as many and as varied forms of instruction as possible (written, audio-visual, demonstration, etc.) to solidify a concept. I am a firm believer that the best way to learn varies from subject to subject. When I taught math my view was that the best way to teach was to break everything down into a step by step process and have the students memorize the process. Most other subjects can be learned through repitition, but math requires everything to be broken down.
I taught 8th through 10th grade at a Christian School in Ludowici. I taught every subject, but never a math course higher then Algebra 1.

I enjoy math and like to involve myself with bright young minds by planting a seed that someday will blossom into outstanding scientist. Although my teaching credentials is somewhat limited, I thought I'd challenge myself with this new endeavor.
I believe that kids learn best when they have incentive, whether it is something they relate to or something they find interesting. I believe few will find homework interesting, unless it is relatable to their daily lives. I like to facilitate the process and let the child make his/her own discovery with minimal intrusion by the instructor. Self discovery is more satisfying than using a force fed method of rote learning.
