I prefer to let the student explain what they understand and then identify what they are struggling with in order to avoid wasting time covering issues that they are proficient in to ensure that the student gets the most out of the time.
I have completed over 22 years of school, including 3 degrees. Along the way, I have been required to take multiple standardized tests in order to achieve admission into both the schools and my profession and have perfected the skills of preparing for and taking standardized tests. Growing up, I was always very gited academically. I never struggled with school, and learning was an easy pleasure. I graduated as valedictorian, and when I got to college I started tutoring to help others that had more difficulty in class.
