I find it important to ensure that the student understands one concept before moving on to mastering a second concept. I believe that all students can learn; however, the way in which a student learns may be different. Therefore, I use short formative assessments throughout teaching to measure the student's knowledge and understanding. Finally, I ensure that the student can generalize or apply the concept. As a graduate of a small junior college I believe one on one teaching gives students the advantage over a large group because the child can receive the necessary attention for learning skills in reading, writing and math. Many children learn differently some are visual learners,some are audio etc. I have been instructed through various techniques in reading with chilldren that will help them achieve a higher reading level of success. As a student in high school, I always have had a passion for math, as well as a passion to teach. I earned my Associate's Degree in Math Education from Mary Holmes College & went on to pursue my Bachelor's Degree from Mississippi State University. Even while pursuing my degrees, I was a Substitute Teacher for the West Point School District for almost 4 years.
