Chess: My teaching of chess can either start with the basics of the game or with in-depth tactics and strategies. I am a proponent of the romantic school of chess and focus on studying the old masters of the game. Violin: I will be teaching classical violin but practice will be integrated with folk music. Lessons can be tailored for a complete beginner or for a novice wanting to refine their skills.

I have earned a bachelors degree in Chemistry from East Tennessee State University. I have more than 100 hours of volunteer experience in all fields of area due to being in organizations like Alpha Phi Omega, Phi Sigma Pi and President's Pride throughout my college career. I believe I'm qualified to teach computers because I use it everyday and know basically most of all the Microsoft Office. English/LA and Social Studies probably not as qualified but I know the basics, if I did not I would not have a Bachelor's degree right now.

A Little Bit About Me...

I recently graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a B.S. in environmental science and a concentration in sociology and anthropology. I have served as the editorial assistant for the Applied Environmental Education and Communications journal for the last year and a half. I have also worked as a research assistant in the West Office Chair of Excellence in Communications and Public Relations under Dr. David Sachsman. The method of teaching I prefer is maieutic, i.e., one which draws knowledge from the student, rather than attempts to place it in him/her from without. To me, the process of asking questions and allowing the student's curiosity and intelligence to reach conclusions is far more effective than one-sided lecturing. I am endlessly creative, coming up with myriad examples to illustrate concepts.
