While I am not a teacher by profession, I have successfully tutored a variety of leraners in a variety of subjects, primarily math, english, science. I enjoy working with people and helping them learn in ways that reach them and help them gain understanding and ultimately success. I am the mother of 3 children, two with college degrees and one currently in college. I am a 14 year old student at the Butler Intermediate High School. I have very good communication skills and am very advanced in school. My approach to teaching is more of a "why" approach. It is more important for students to know why something is or works rather than just how. This approach works well for middle and high school students. It allows students not only to understand the ideas taught but to apply them to other areas as well. I also like to use visual aids as well as conversation. I have found that many of us vary widely in learning styles. Some are visual learners, others are audio learners, and still others are a combination. I work well one-on-one but also enjoy small groups. I’m a graduate from the University of Pittsburgh (2009) with a B.S. in Business Administration. After graduation, I realized my true calling while working at my YMCA in our Child Development Center. My title was an office coordinator position, but I took further responsibilities to help out our teachers in our preschool and toddler classrooms. Along with helping out the preschool classes, I have also worked with our school-aged children.
