A Little Bit About Me...

I have been teaching English and History education for three years. I have experience on the 7th, 8th 9th and 10th grade levels. For the last three years my high school English courses have been centered on ACT prep. for the ACT/MME students take their junior year. My eighth grade curriculum focuses on strengthening testing scores, reading comprehension and writing ability (formal and creative). If you need English help, I'm your girl!

I like to work one on one with students, however I'm open to group settings. I'm adaptive to how the student learns and try to work from there.
I'm an English education major currently attending Western Michigan University to earn my degree. Before starting at Western I attended Jackson College, where I excelled in my writing classes and was asked to become a writing fellow. Through this program I worked with students at the college answering questions and helping them with any and all works of writing. I also worked within a Jackson area prison helping inmates with various writing and English related issues. Before I began tutoring I wrote for my local newspaper for two years. First I was a part of a teen issues column, but was asked to continue to write even after the column was over. I traveled for a year with a family and home-schooled their 3 children. The children were in 1st grade, kindergarten, and pre-school and were seriously below grade level in math and reading. In that year, I brought those children beyond grade level in reading skills and comprehension as well as math skills. I have also been a teacher's assistant in 3rd and 4th grade classrooms and have gone through student teaching in the 3rd and 6th grade in order to complete my degree.
