A Little Bit About Me...

I began my career in education in 1993 as an Instructional Aide. That experience cemented my desire to be a teacher. Since that time I have devoted myself to getting the education necessary for that dream to come true.I now have a Bachelor's in English, and a Master's in Education. While attending school I tutored after-school students and substituted whenever possible. Concurrent with my Master's studies I was attending the teacher training program. I graduated cum laude from the University of California, Irvine with a BA in history and minors in biology and psychology. I have a degree in Biology Education/Science Education from Central Washington University and did hold a Washington State teaching certificate in Biology and General Science until I moved down to California in 2000. I first started teaching in 2003 as a substitute to supplement the income from my guiding business during the slower portion of the year. After showing that I was very capable in the classroom and could quickly develop a strong rapport with coworkers and students, I was hired for the year when another teacher left unexpectedly. I went to school for the next year at the University of Kentucky, did not finish my degree, but earned enough credits to be hired by to teach in their Alternative School. I taught and was a leader and innovator at Cropper Alternative School for the next five years, until I decided to move to this part of the country after a recent divorce.
