My goal is to help children in any context that I can. Although I have my sights set on being a pediatric neurologist, my vision encompasses more than this end. I have worked with children from ages 3 to 16 starting from the time that I was a sophomore in high school to the present. I have served a diverse array of roles, such as summer camp counselor, patient care associate at St. Louis Children's Hospital, and a mathematics teacher at an inner city school in St. Louis. My goal is to help a child with whatever they need help with, whether it is social, academic, or personal, and I am ambitious to find more ways to help others by using my talents.
My experience, specifically within the past two years, has been extensive. During this time spent at Webster University I was hired by the Student Literacy Corps, a non-profit organization funded by the university for the purpose of educa ... read more

I recently graduated from Missouri State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Education degree. My subject area is high school mathematics. I have completed two practicums along with a semester of student teaching, all three in a high school math classroom. Along with my practicum experiences, where tutoring students is one of the major duties, I have experience tutoring college level students in their mathematics classes.
I believe that all students have a different learning ability and learning style. I am patient and caring about my students, and I find the best way to teach each student so that they will succeed and perform to their highest potential. I believe that student-centered learning is a great way for students to understand material. This teaching approach allows the students to investigate topics and create conjectures about material. I was a teaching assistant for past 1 year for 2 different subjects for 2 semesters. I used to conduct lab sessions, correct home works, labs and quizzes. It was my responsibility to make students understand the lab and help them to get the solutions. In this past 1 year I came to know that every student has different level of understanding and we have to clear their doubt by getting at their level. We have to be always fully prepared with complete curriculum.
Practical examples and theory are equally important. Before finalizing the class schedule for a semester it is important to understand average understanding of the class. Tutor should ask questions frequently to find out whether class is following or not and accordingly he/she can change the way of teaching. Small evaluation test is good once a week so the concepts get cleared time to time.

I am a very patient, easy going, and considerate instructor. I believe that the hands-on learning approach is the most effective in helping all children learn. Each child has their own individual strengths and weaknesses. I feel it is important to identify the strengths and use those to overcome the weaknesses.
