A Little Bit About Me...

I have no formal experience. I am employed by a church to provide child care during the service. The experience I have is with my own children and my extensive tour of the community college system. I passed each of the subjects that I have chosen at college level. It is my goal to continue to Master's level and teach college. I am attempting to gain experience in teaching.
I believe in guiding the student to find the answer foir themselves through the use of props or examples. I also would try to impart the skills that have made me successful in my educational career.

In a one-on-one situation, I prefer dialogue. Assuming the student does the assigned work before the session, I find that a informal, relaxed conversation on the subject matter at hand encourages the student to further explore the addressed topic. If I am familiar with the student's extra-curricular interests, I attempt to relate the subject matter to such interests. I find that questioning the student in a conversational manner produces the best results, as opposed to the more stringent (i.e. boring) task of fill-in-the-blank worksheets. For writing assignments, I ask the student to write a paragraph which we then go over line-by-line so the student has immediate feedback on any errors.

A Little Bit About Me...

I had no intention of teaching when I started my career in Psychology and the Analytical Chemistry industry. I continuously tried to improve my methadology to arrive at the right mix of stimulation and information to make the learning process as interesting as possible. Teaching the Physics of Xrays and chemical analysis does challenge one to keep assessing the learned content and modify as results indicate. The results of effective teaching and learning start with asking questions about the purpose of the instructions, how will the results of the learning be measured, and what is educational level of the students? I reached University level in Mexico before moving to the United States. Also, I got my AA degree from Merced Community College and transfered to CSU Fresno where I got my BA degree, both in Spanish major. I have taken Beginning Algebra, Intermediate and College Algebra among many other Math related classes such as Arithmetic, Geometry, and Calculus. I used to be a Bilingual instructional Aide for Weaver Middle School in Merced for two years with good references from my supervisors about my duties.
