Love Teaching

I believe to be successful in teaching, a teacher has to keep an open mind, because each student is different and his/her learning strategy is different. I believe collaborative method works best for students, because students will have to opportunity to learn from their peers in the classroom. Before beginning a lesson, a teacher has to find out the level of his/her student. Once the teacher is aware of the weakness and strength of her/his students, she/he can organize the group in the classroom. I earned both of my degrees while working and caring for very young children. I feel this was possible because of my time management skills and determination to see a task through to completion. I have worked in the accounting or banking industry for over thirty years and truly love working with numbers. During graduate school, I was a substitute teacher, taught a teaching writing practicum at UAB, and was a reading tutor. I was a student teacher for 8th grade language arts, and then I was a real teacher for 6th grade English. I have taken 18 hours of graduate level English classes, and this is more than is required to earn a Master's degree in secondary English education. I also have a bachelor's degree in psychology from Samford University, and my background in psychology is also useful as I help students learn.
