My comments on tutoring Geography : I am especially proficient in World Geography.

Academic Learning to Standards and Beyond!

I was raised in a family of teachers. Both my parents have been teachers, and my older brother and sister are both currently teachers. As an psychiatric technician at Napa State Hospital, I was chosen to become a trainer, teaching a new computer system being implemented to nursing and other staff throughout the hospital. I developed classes and created lesson plans for those classes, as well as providing individual training. I held this position for 2 years.
I believe a large part of teaching is to find ways of motivating students to learn. I like to show my students how what they are learning applies to their everyday lives. As everyone else touts, I can also relate to young adults. My method is simple and effective. I solve problems with my students. As I solve problems I explain the underlying concept/strategy/trick behind the problem. After explaining all the concepts my students and I go through as many problems as possible. I tweak their approach, and if necessary explain again the necessary concept. There is a lot of drilling involved.
