I have earned a Bachelor’s in Biology from West Texas A&M University and a Minor in Chemistry and Animal Science. I was home schooled through grade school, and I had to opportunity to help my younger brothers with their studies at home as well. Because my mom was a high school English teacher while I was home schooled, I am strongly educated in English and have had experience writing all types of papers. The best way to be come successful in school is to know how to prepare yourself for exams by learning new study tactics that are best for your learning style. I have taught Science curriculum for thirty years. The subjects I have taught include Physical Science, Life Science, Earth Science, Zoology, Biology, Chemistry and AP Chemistry. I have a passion and talent in teaching Chemistry with many short and usefull tricks to learning the material. I have had great success with the students that have taken the AP Chemistry test. In my classroom experience, I have developed a process of instruction followed by in-class practice that effectivly leads to individual learning. As an instuctor in a one on one situation I have found it best to deal with the deficiencies of learning and reinforce the material the student knows. I enjoy working with all learners - no matter the age, child or adult. I enjoy the challenge it brings of figuring out what teaching method works for each individual. In my experience, it takes ingenious and quick thinking to activate the learning potential for some learners. I believe that switching the types of teaching is effective to continue interest on behalf of the learner. In a math example, it is helpful to not work on problems for the entire time. Discovery using hands on concrete examples is often a "fun" and effective break. My desire is for students to learn more than they thought possible.
