A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked for Norfolk City Public Schools and Virginia Beach City Public Schools as a substitute teacher for approximately six years. During that period I performed a multitude of jobs including long term substitute positions, teaching high school physics, and performed tasks far beyond the parameters of substitute job specifications. This current school year I was requested by the school improvement specialist, to work as the primary SOL tutor for Earth Science. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that a student who lacks the basic fundamental skills in reading and mathematics will struggle to stay focused in class and continually be disruptive and ultimately stop attending school. My teaching style is consistently accommodating especially to these types of students. I like to show students that I am there for them and there isn't anything through my patience and sincerity they cannot learn.

A Little Bit About Me...

For the past ten years, I have been teaching High School English. I have taught grades 9-12 in Literature, Composition and Standards of Learning in preparation for the state exams. I have taught inclusion classes involving students with numerous learning styles and have always met and exceeded the expectations of their parents.
I am a very motivating person and tend to use humor as a method of teaching. I teach to and with the child and never down to him/her. I break large components into their simplest forms so that a child learns to take things one step at a time and not feel overwhelmed. I make the learning relevant to what the child is interested in or knows about so that he/she can be more engaged in the learning process. We set the goal-a reasonable one yet with high expectations and together we achieve it.
