A Little Bit About Me...

I’ve recently graduated in from Albright College with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science. Despite my degree in the sciences, I attended a liberal arts college where I took a wide array of classes. Because I attended a liberal arts college I have many interests and a range of skills. Ever since I can remember I have enjoyed mathematics and problems solving. It has been my strength throughout high school and college. I have also enjoyed working with and being around children. I am personable, friendly, professional and have a great working attitude.
My goal as a tutor is not to simply give children the answers they need to finish homework assignments. I encourage them to learn independently and strive to achieve their educational goals. I am a highly motivated and organized teacher with a passion for teaching students of all ages. I recently worked as a long term music substitute at Hamburg Area High school in Hamburg, Pa. There I taught beginner guitar, chorus, piano and coached the drama club. This past summer I taught remedial reading during the summer school session at Hamburg. I have tutoring experience in Reading, Math, and elementary science. As a college student, I worked as a tutor. I taught music theory, sight singing, elementary science, math, and reading. I now am a substitute teacher and am teaching a variety of subjects daily.

While I enjoy business, working with children is my passion, hence why I am pursuing my teaching certification. I believe the best way to teach students any skill is to let them have hands on experience with it. As an example, in order to learn business skills, students need to practice the skills and understand their relevance in the real world.
I have a strong business background, with an MBA, CPA, and CIA. However, as a student at Susquehanna University, I also volunteered at least 2 days a week at a local preschool where I helped teach the students. In addition, I worked at a local elementary after-school program 2 days a week. I am currently pursuing my teaching certification through Drexel University.
