My comments on tutoring Hearing Impaired : basic/elementary level understanding of ASL American sign language

positive reinforcement. I enjoy organizational charts and calendars to keep schedules. I take a multisensory approach to learning. For students without severe disabilities this could include incorporating visuals and graphics to teach lessons
graduated in 2012 form SCSU in special education k-12 with a psychology minor. I worked in day care setting for 2 years and 5 years working with students with multiple disabilities including learning disabilities, deaf and blindness. I have basic understanding of ASL (aerican sign language) I also have experience with utilizing visual supports. I have some experience developing phonic lessons for beginning and struggling readers. Hey! My names Bethy! I'm 13 years old and in 8th grade. I've been tutoring since I was in 5th grade. I can tutor all ages in almost any subject. Last year I had the highest GPA in my whole school! I love teaching anyone who is willing to learn! I also teach children with learning disabilities and special needs.
I am very laid back and flexible. While I might be calm I only have 3 rules, 1. Be respectful, 2. the words "I can't" are not allowed :), and 3. have fun! I tend to create games based on the skills that are being taught and I'm not into lecturing, my approach is very hands. Learning can be fun!

I am only 19 and i graduated class of 2011. I've had a lot of help when i was in school so i know it can be stressful and tough but i found it a lot easier when i got help from people. Kids may be shy or maybe they just find the work is to hard and there scared to get help but i'm easy and outgoing i don't force kids to do there work. It takes time for them to understand how to work things out how to talk to teachers.
I have plenty that i've been tought so maybe using some of them could help the students understand better.
