I love to work with children of any age. I have been volunteering for over 15 years helping wherever and whenever I can to help make the lives of children more enriched. I have two boys of my own (age 10 and 14) and have been successful in helping them achieve the best they can. A Little Bit About Me...

As a training manager, I often taught classes to large groups of individuals on subjects such as statistics, Microsoft Office programs, and teamwork, problem solving and quality concepts. Further, as an engineer, I did a lot of one-on-one teaching of job instructions and job changes. I further informally taught other engineers how to perform different tasks in Word and Excel.
Although I am an engineer by education, I have often found myself in a teaching role of all groups of people. I have often been complimented for my tremendous patience and ability to work with others to teach them some new information or concept. I believe in "teaching and doing" where the person is shown something and then they have to do it themselves to help reinforce the concept I'm trying to teach them.

I use a step-by-step approach starting with what the student knows and connect to everyday life experiences. This approach works particularly well in subjects like physics or chemistry. I exercise patience with others on a daily basis whether interacting with my family, shopping at the grocery store, or driving on the highway. One of my most vivid memories of exercising patience with another person is when my neighbor, Kaitlyn, was learning to read.
