I have completed three weeks of training in the Project Lead the Way program at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. PLTW has prepare me with the tools I need to execute the STEM curriculum in Middle Schools. I was able to receive training in the areas of Automation and Robotics, Design and Modeling and Medical Detectives. My comments on tutoring Geometry : A student contacted me to help her study for her final exam. She needed at least an 85 to pass the class. In 2 1/2 hours, she said she learned more than she had all year. She got the highest score in her class and passed the class. I also helped another student ace an online credit recovery class to pass for the year and progress to the next grade.

I excel at identifying each students strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles. I can quickly adapt or create lessons as needed. Most of my students look forward to our time together, as we have fun, but get our work done.
I homeschooled my three daughters for 10 years, right through high school. All three have gone on to Colllege and have excelled, making the Dean's list. In the work world, two have been highly praised for their writing skills. After homeschooling, I began tutoring. I have over 5 years experience and have tutored elementary, middle school, high school, and college students, as well as adults preparing for exams such as the GED. A Little Bit About Me...

While attending Claflin University in the pursuit of obtaining duel BA's in the field of journalism and sociology, my off times was spent in the middle schools of Orangeburg, SC for nearly six years. I spent 4-5 hours in the classroom (daily) as an assistant and tutor/mentor in language arts classes grades 6-8. My majoring in sociology allows me to use human behavioral knowledge to reach kids effectively in order to sustain their focus which allows them to embrace the concept of learning.
