Throughout my successful career as a teacher and school counselor, I've instructed every level from kindergarten to college level. Likewise I've had the privilege of working with various cultures, ages and achievement levels. Due to my certification and years of experience I've taught every subject area in grades K-8, worked with high school students in language arts and sciences, assisted with study skills and test preparation and taught reading to adults as well as other college level classes. A Little Bit About Me...

I have an extensive experience in the field of tutoring. For the past eight years, I have work with students from age kindergarten to highschool. From one-on-one tutoring, small groups, to helping a class of more than 60 students. Therefore, I can recognize each student's ability and devised a studying plan to help them improve their weaknesses. With a Bachelor degree in Biology and Chemistry, I have a strong background in science and mathematics. Furthermore, I have taken many courses in Writing, English, and grammar.

Being a sociology major, I had to write many papers, which fine-tuned my grammatical, spelling, proofreading, and editing skills. In law school, I excelled in and enjoyed legal writing courses. I strongly believe that an education that leads with concepts instead of rote is the surest route to lifelong success. This is certainly the method that worked for me, and I find that, without the conceptual grounding, a student will not get as much out of necessary practice exercises. Thus, when I am working with a student on a subject, I tend to approach the concept foremost, creatively using a wide range of examples and descriptions to elucidate it. This is the best use of my time with a student, instead of just correcting their exercises. It also requires the confidence of the student to know that they can fully grasp a concept first, and then put it into practice, so I like to encourage that personal confidence.
