A Little Bit About Me...

I'm certified in both elementary general and special education. I've taught for the past 19 years. I have my masters in educational administration and will soon be a certified educational diagnostician. My favorite subjects are reading and math. Solve ALL your problems with a math tutor!

While completing my degree, I worked in the math department as a tutor. I often had several students with various subjects simultaneously. It was a challenge to constantly switch topics, but I apparently did it so well that I almost had a regular class that showed up every time I was on duty. Several students told me that I explained things on a level they could understand as opposed to the high-level language the professor used. I have also done private tutoring since then.
I generally work through an example while explaining. Then as the student works the problems, I instruct by asking prompting questions with decreasing frequency until the student can complete problems without any assistance.

Struggles with math or reading

My teaching style can fluctuate depending on the child and what needs to be accomplished. My goal is to build confidence in the student through small but very important accomplishments. I use a combination of technology and good ole pencil and paper to teach anything from math to reading.
