My comments on tutoring Creative Writing : Although the bulk of my career has involved writing as a journalist, I have -- from time to time -- ventured into fiction and feel perfectly comfortable tutoring in that subject area as well.

Ex-classroom school teacher with 10 years plus experience!

My teaching style is one that always tries to relate to the child and to have fun. Does the child enjoy video games, dinosaurs, soccer, dance, or a particular cartoon character? When I discover what it is the child enjoys, I bring that element into the subject we are learning about. If the child likes soccer and struggles in reading, I research about famous soccer players and find books on them. Perhaps, at the end of a teaching session, we go outside and kick the soccer ball for 5 minutes as a source of inspiration to get work completed. Bringing in other ways of learning through play and games is also something I enjoy. Playing simple math games or reading games is a easy way to teach a child, without them realizing they are learning.

My comments on tutoring Creative Writing : I have taken upper level English courses for the past six years.

I have student taught for the past seven years. I have tutored countless individuals in English, Drama and American Sign Language. I am fluent in ASL and am very confident in my ability to teach others the beautiful language. I was heavily involved in theater for the past fifteen years and I can say that my experience has taught me more than any coach could and I am more than willing to share my experience. Reading, Writing, and More

I have no set style of teaching. I try to understand how to benefit the individual by examining their needs. Then, we go from there. Some students need an analytical approach, so the material can best be presented as a formula. Others need a creative approach. It really just depends on the student.
I have a Bachelors in English Literature w/a certificate in Technical Writing from the University of North Texas. I have put myself through school by working as server part-time. This has given me a great deal of patience. I have experience as an office manager for an apartment locator, and I have tutored my friends through their English courses.
