I try to me more personable than most instructors. Many students simply need another approach to a subject to understand the material. I actively find that perfect approach for an individual student. I have taught and tutored since I was sixteen. I currently teach for USC, a few online universities, Syl. Learning Center, and am a Professional Writing Tutor. I teach all grades and university levels, but my specialties are AP Courses and university courses. I have taught everything from 4 yr olds phonics to College level writing and literature to basic maths and sciences to Calculus and Trig.

I enjoy working with children and understand that everyone has a unique learning style. An effective teacher works with this while exercising patience, care and consideration for students as they guide them to subject mastery. My preferred method of teaching is show and do. I show the technique or concept, and then give the student a chance to practice and demonstrate that they understand. The student learns best when they can find or develop the answer themselves. We then work to build on what they understand until they master the subject. I graduated with an M.Ed. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from the University of South Carolina in May of 2010. Directly after graduating, I began a career as an Academic Advisor in the Moore School of Business Undergraduate Division at the University of South Carolina. I currently still hold this job. I also taught a University 101 course to 25 incoming freshmen in the Fall of 2010. This course included helping the students get acquainted with resources on campus, learn study/time management strategies, and much more. Also, while in graduate school, I worked about 5-10 hours per week as an Academic Success Coach in the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) at the University of South Carolina. As a recent graduate of Clemson University, I am very familiar with school and the tools necessary to learn and excel. I graduated with a B.S. in Biological Sciences. This degree has given me extensive knowledge of chemistry, physics, and biology. I also have extensive knowledge of writing research papers, lab reports, and essays. As a tutor, I will be able to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to excel academically. I love children of all ages. I believe that every child can learn and excel in school. Unfortunatley, all children learn differently and schools do not adapt well. I will adapt to the learning techniques that best fit the student.
