More About This Tutor...

My teaching style with my own children is conversational, hands-on, and intuitive. I explore what most captures their attention, then weave in the lessons by using any available teaching aids, such as whiteboard drawings, to illustrate a point, literally.
My German parents spoke (so-called "high", or proper) German at home in NY/NJ, which came in handy after we moved overseas when I was 13. Repeating 7th grade, I learned to read and write German fluently, as well as master the local dialects and sundry colloquialisms without a lingering accent. Doing so allowed me mask my heritage, enroll in higher education, and learn a trade, culminating in a long and rewarding all-encompassing painting career abroad and in the eastern US, before settling in Texas to explore telecommunications. I widely regard the world as a large classroom/laboratory.

I am a native french speaking and i am also fluent in English. I have started tutoring students since 2001.I have tutored in Mathematics, physics &chemistry and french when i was in England.
I like working with students.i think that a tutor should review over the day to day lesson (course)with the student, practice the application and then treat the tasks with the gradual difficulties. The patience and the repetition are the keys of a successful tutoring.I think that the tutor must develop a certain feeling and a logic from his student towards the maths(base of the science). The achievement is to step the student into the teacher`s shoes in ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have always had a passion to teach. I have been lucky enough to teach both children and adults. Before moving from Delaware to Atlanta, GA I taught kindergarten. It was rewarding and very fulfilling. When I lived in Atlanta I was fortunate to find an ESL position teaching children and adults. I was hooked! I've been able to utilize all my skills that I have learned from the University of Delaware, past job experiences and new job experiences.. A move to Alabama three years ago didn't change the fact that ESL is what I loved teaching. Presently, I'm teaching part-time at Gadsden State Community College College.
Learning is an awesome tool when you have the ability to understand and use it in your surroundings. This is my goal for every student. I've taught in many different ways: classroom, small groups, one-on-one, multi-level and specific levels in ESL. All areas are co ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

As primarily a middle grades teacher, I have 33 years of classroom experience and 25 years of private tutoring. My basic focus has been 6th grade math and the education of ESOL students. I hold 2 degrees in elementary eduction and an ED. Specialist in Administration/Supervision. The classroom has always been preferred, even though I hold a degree in Adminstration. I am the true success story that education does lead you out of proverty, having come from a migratory farm-worker background in a rural agriculture county in central Florida.
I believe in basic teaching with practice, and feedback. The differeniation of individual learning styles is always taken into consideration. My primary focus has been on 6th grade math and pre-algebra and having students understand the step-by-step process so they can not only know where the are, but where they are going and where they have been i ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I originally wanted to teach children with behavioral disorders. But when I was in college there was no such major. When being interviewed for tutoring a young girl with spina bifida, I was told I would have to literally turn the pages for her. I asked if she had something wrong with her hands. Of course she did not but that is the approach I take. I assume there is nothing wrong with the child. They just need something different. It can be done with a different approach or explanation. Some just need the individual attention which gives them the confidence to understand it. I do not do their work for them. I help them understand it and give them the confidence to do the work and turn it in with a smile on their face.
Before I changed my major in college to accounting, it was early education. I worked overseas on a military base as a special assistant/tutor to a young gir ... read more
