As a Senior in High School I spent a semester in Mettmann, Germany. During my stay I helped my host mom, who was also the head English teacher at the school I attended. I assisted her teach 6th and 7th graders and had the opportunity to head the classes on multiple occasions. She also volunteered to teach English to elderly citizens once a week, which I also filled in for her when she had schedule conflicts. It was a terrific experience which demanded constant adaptation and patience. After finishing up 4 years of German from Ames High School, I began my studies at ISU. I took 2 or 3 German classes every semester. Classes varied from early 1900's literature to German films.
I enjoy a very hands-on approach to teaching where students remain attentive through an energetic and lively approach.

Motivated to help struggling students find love of learning

I have over 15 semesters of college courses most in the sciences. I find math and science to come easy to me if I am taught it in the right way and I would love to share that with struggling students out there. I have had experience in big and small schools, accelerated programs as well as normal classrooms so I have been exposed to a variety of learning environments.
I love to teach and coach and think it is important to understand that everyone learns and grasps concepts in different ways. I do not have a specific teaching style other than positive because each child requires their own approach.

I enjoy teaching with individuals of all ages. I believe that every person should learn something new everyday and to succeed in doing this all that is needed is a common link. My patience and determination show to my students that I am there to help them. Coupling this with a view at the big picture helps a teacher better understand which ways a student learns. Since all students do not learn in the same manner it is pertinent to establish a game plan in the first meeting and help them work through any difficulties that they may learning the subject manner. I truly enjoy teaching children and I know for a fact that each child learns at a different rate as well as a different way. I am sure I am able to accommodate all of these ways. It is up to the adults to teach children the productiveness of today. I believe that it is up to people like myself to do such a thing. I do believe that every child can and will meet their potential if were are to give them the correct learning experience. I have and will continue to strive to make a difference in the lives of all my students.
I have earned a bachelor degree in mathematics. While doing so, I have taken many educational classes that has taught the different ways kids learn. I am sure that I will be able to help these kids in their moment of need.
