School has been the most important structure in my life since I was a kid. My parents taught me that school comes first above anything else. I took their statement very seriously. I earned a 3.9 GPA at my university with Summa Cum Laude honors. I was a dedicated student who wants to help others succeed in school. I am a babysitter, which comes hand in hand with tutoring. I often help the kids with homework when I'm babysitting. I help my old high school speech and debate team. I must be able to constructively criticize the students but make speech and debate fun and challenging. I work well with kids, from elementary school to high school.

After graduating summa cum laude with a B.A. in English, I began working at an educational publishing company as an editor to help create textbooks for students. In 2008 I returned to school to get my M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction for Children's Literature, which was a mixture of literature and education (theory, psychology, curriculum) classes. At Amherst College, we were encouraged to pursue a wide variety of subjects in addition to our major. I studied math for several years, some Biology, Latin and Greek. I had a semester of graduate school at Iowa in Classics. At Tulane, I studied advanced statistics as well as marketing. I had two years of Spanish at DMACC.
