Teacher looking to help students learn to love math!

I feel that it is important to relate to students and make the learning experience about what they need. I like to get to know a student on a personal level so that I can better learn what's best for them as a studuent.
Out of college, I substitute taught for a year, where I gained the ability to adapt to the needs and personalities of many different students. I have spent 2 1/2 years teaching grades 6-12 in an alternative school, working one-on-one with students, giving them the individual attention and education they need. I ran a before and after school program for 2 years working with K-5 students. I currently teach math interventions and Algebra at a middle school in Lincoln, working with grade 6-8.

I graduated from Malcolm High School with high honors (3.948 GPA) and I currently have a 3.6 GPA (I've found college is a little harder than high school). I received only 5 B+'s in my high school career and the rest were A's. I was on the honor role my entire high school career. A Little Bit About Me...

I like to make teaching fun. I pride myself on my ability to add fun through puzzles, arts and crafts, etc. and teach all at the same time. It is so rewarding when a child you are working with accomplishes what they may have though to be the impossible. All children, as adults, are sponges that are wanting to absorb all that is around them. I feel that my previous experience in working with children is my resume.
I have been a Human Resources Manager for past 10 years. A good portion of my job is involved with training. While there are differences in training/teaching adults versus young adults and children, the basics are still the same.
